All depends on the culture of the place. Usually this idea of being “nice” to others is instilled in us by our seniors at home or family members/ relatives. Ultimately a good thing when you have to be in a society. But in college, where you are cut off from adults, people tend to behave the way they want. Also, depending on which state people are from and others in your college are - your niceness may be perceived negatively - as either too fake/ or too naive.

Folks from the north are usually more loud and in your face - be it the way they talk, hang out or joke. Folks from the south are bit more reserved and quiet.

Okay you may not like to hear this but this is my take and i think its pretty true. Most people who are 'nice' are doing it to be percieved as nice. So it is inherently selfish. There is a difference between kindness and 'nice'. Kindness is done when you feel geniune compassion, while nicenes is dont to avoid upsetting others or to be liked. Those people who are not giving away their notes are doing nothing wrong. And if you are giving away your notes and resenting it later as you dont feel like you got anything in return, youre just fucking yourself over. And the truth is that you will notice being nice doesng get you extra goodwill. People will just take you for granted and come to expect you to bend over backwards to help them. It reduces theur respect for you. Stop helping people in anyway that makes you uncomfortable or stands to hurt you. Set boundaries. Be kind not nice. This is geniuely not an attack i was exactly this why and since then ive grown and i hope the same for you.

Seniors talk about fancy trips they went to, what booze they drank, where they dined. Then they talk about what their colleagues are Upto. Then get more drunk and start singing.

Have good food. Have a good laugh. Take some jokes they’ll crack on you. Get drunk, but not too drunk to start behaving recklessly or vomiting. Sing along or dance with them if they have such a session. You remind them of their lost youth, so cheer them up.

A0 pay is 80k, i.e 9.6LPA for bombay. However for laterals they will pay basis the previous salary drawn. If you're coming from a low paying firm then you can expect something around 60k. But the work culture is very toxic. Partners here love to scream at, humiliate and ridicule the associates.

Regarding PPO, they massively screwed the 2024 batch. They took around 8-10 people on assessment and hired only 2. That too after dilly-dallying with all of them for months. Ruined careers of more than half of them because by the time they declared their selection/rejection, most firms were done hiring. Most of them had to settle for peanuts in random firms and companies no one's heard of. They declare their results by June and by then you're practically f****d. All in all a huge shit show. If you're aiming for ppo at samvad mumbai, be prepared for hanging by a thin thread for months at a stretch with no surety of whether or not you're in. My suggestion is it's not worth it, please go elsewhere.

On the contrary i don't know about the pay at BLC (heard it's between 8-11 lpa but I'm not sure) but have mostly heard good things about the work culture and mandates.

If you wish to go for assessment internship>A0 rout, I do want to apply. Best would be to hire self-critical people like me who (1) have capacity and can make attempts to figure out on their own, (2) ask questions if they can't figure out on their own, and (3) do not repeat the similar mistakes or effectively learn from previous experiences.
