Would it really make any difference? I ask in all seriousness. The advocates who so invite these judges, in most scenarios have been associated with the judges as colleagues for years, before the latter come to be elevated. They would naturally have cordial relations, or at least basic professional relations, if they seek to invite the concerned judges to such functions.

That is true - the public opinion had been influenced to make DYC the darling of left-liberals and anti-RW. Now, in the past 1.5 years, there has been a shift in his own conduct and stance where though he takes a legally correct position in cases involving the govt. (as he is duty-bound to do so), there is increasing acknowledgement (and even appreciation) and involvement in judiciary related activities/events/programs by the PM or government. DYC seems to enjoy the attention of the PM. He is unlikely to follow the past of former CJI Gogoi, and in all probability would settle down abroad with his sons, but you never know what can follow.

Another aspect is that with his slight excursions into the centre, mainly through warm public chemistry with the PM, he has managed to turn the left-wing against him (Jaisingh, Bhushan etc.) who were earlier firmly in his camp. He already is ridiculed by RW as they consider him too elite and a subject of nepotism.

Slight corrections, mess is not free. We pay 30 for breakfast and 50 for lunch. There's a card tapping device as well where the amount you eat is cut from your salary.

We aren't exactly asked to lower out marks, but maintain a curve. So very low students should score very high marks and very low marks. Absolute shitty system, but it is what it is.

This isn't telling you that you have to prep for 3-4 hours per hour of teaching. More when you are new and haven't done it before. Students don't just go away after class. They will contact you through the week, and over weekends with requests and questions and some will get upset if you can't get back to them immediately. All faculty members in all universities get asked to do other things so you will also end up with admin work.

You only have 1 full course or teach so you teach for only about 6 hours per week. The rest of the time you are mostly free apart from mandatory centre related work. You have a free mess that serves decent enough food. You get reasonable good accommodation though.

Do note that the trimester system means you will have 2-3 graded assignments to correct per student within a specified time limit, plus all assignments are moderated by senior faculty so you have to be very through in the grading part. also rescheduling classes is highly looked down upon. Students are generally good, at least better than most other NLUs in the sense that they do their work more diligently. Last thing about the grading, you will be asked by the AAD to depress grades and not mark anyone too highly so be prepared for not giving out an O to even the most deserving of students.

In an appeal before high court, the district collector and a govt department are respondents. The matter is usually handled by the Additional Advocate General. Is there any way that I can hire a private lawyer as I know for a fact that that additional advocate general is not going to fight the case properly?

"There are many Judicial Services toppers across India who are still writing SEBI law officer exam." Definitely projecting your own life choices onto others as you seem unhappy being a judicial officer yourself. Never met a single judge who wants to join PSU or a statutory body like SEBI (have acquittances in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan Judicial Service). Though I do know some people who have left higher paying jobs in PSUs to join judicial service.

The difference in work (read: variety), independence, feeling of satisfaction, and respect/repute in society for being a judge cannot be replicated in a law officer job like SEBI.

Maybe it makes sense personally for you considering the nature of postings in Maharashtra but for Haryana and Delhi services, their postings are already mostly in NCR.

What has the great DYC done about SS of Cal HC? As with RG Kar case, DYC brought that case and has been sitting pretty on it. Collegium had recommended transfer of SS to Odisha HC. Inexplicably it is the central govt that has not acted on the collegium recommendation.

How is everyone missing the "setting" of saffron-green. It has been there since the days of Sarada and Narada cover-ups. For example, how is it that a certain IPS officer is allowed to be both the DGP of WBP and Secy of Info Tech Dept? Also how is it that SC hasn't heard a serious complaint against this IPS by CBI?

Can someone also explain what exactly is the CBI doing with RG Kar case? Everyone knows Green. But WB folks are not sure whether Saffron is a better alternative.

Instead of saying this in media, the doctors should go ahead and file an affidavit in SC, highlighting all the (alleged) lies and the correct facts, instead of a media trial. They've good legal representation in the SC, who should've advised them accordingly. And since they would be speaking truth on an affidavit, no question of perjury etc.

Background

i.] One APP (woman) seems to have decided that I, for some reason, owe HER the very chair I which I am sitting, if at all I get any place to sit in the courtroom. She never asks any intern sitting around me, but expects me to give her my chair EVERY time. I do that to keep peace, but I feel she is doing this only as a bullying tactic. Every time we are in the same court room, library, or Bar Room, this obnoxious woman literally hunts me down, demanding a seat.

ii.] I am rather petite-lady, and unfortunately am baby-faced. (I believe this is relevant information)

iii.] I don't even handle criminal matters as such, so I am absolutely certain that she does not know me. Add to that, I am at the 3-5 PQE stage. Naturally, I have been around enough to be a face somewhere in memory, but obviously, and in all seriousness, not important enough for an already ego-laden around PQE 10 -15 to treat with even basic courtesy.

iii.] Those regularly appearing or otherwise keeping abreast with the sitting list would know that the present sitting isn't exactly a civil - criminal divide.

iv.] I have no nexus with this woman, nor does my (by experience, not designated) senior. I keep to myself, as much as possible. Obviously if I see someone truly of advanced age, or designated Seniors, or other seniors I personally know, I offer them a seat. These people, including designated Seniors who do not particularly know me even by face; at least as basic courtesy, say a small thanks. Not that they have to, but they do. Not just to me, but to anyone who does this. But this woman? NOPE. NADA. NEVER. It is this entitled attitude which infuriates me.

The constitution of Student Bar Council of NALSAR was set to be amended through a referendum this week. The amendment involved major changes such as integration of the management and LLM batches into the council as well as co-presidentship for IPM and LLB batches and eligibility of MBA and LLM students for presidentship and vice-presidentship. However, according to the constitution only LLB students are eligible voters for any referendum to be conducted to amend the constitution. This sparked a protest by the management students against the administration and LLB with a series of hateful anonymous emails being exchanged. This whole issue has brought forth the debate of whether NLUs as poorly funded state universities can be self-sustainable and how introduction of ancillary courses for revenue generation into the already cramped spaces can lead to more complications. The two extremes of the debate can be summarised as one side demanding total and radical equality in terms of student body elections, while the other demanding a purposive interpretation of the NALSAR act and the SBC constitution to give positions proportionately and exclude students who do not stay in the University for more than 2 years from high exec posts. The problem is rooted in the imagination of NLUs as poorly funded, state universities and majorly reliant on expensive fees charged from the students, leaving no option for the administration to get revenues from ancillary courses such as management and policy. While the conflict can be avoided by communication and adequate representation, it is high time that the unified alumni and student body strongly pose for getting NLUs recognised as Institutes of Eminence and possibly nationalise the institutions to get adequate funding. Otherwise, the already poor condition of the legal fraternity of India would be worsened. It is unfortunate that despite recognising that legal education and practice is a domain dominated by elitism and nepotism, no steps are taken to improve the prominent legal institutions, let alone the rest of them. This is the reason why most of the academia is also moving towards elite factories such as Jindal which offer higher pays and more opportunities. Again, HIGH TIME THAT ALUMNI OF NLUs DEMAND RECOGNITION AS INSTITUTES OF EMINENCE AND MORE FUNDINGS

Many other liberals like Prashant Bhushan, Sanjay Hegde, Sanjay Raut, Manoj Jha etc have also condemned it. But Indira Jaising's remarks are undoubtedly the strongest and biggest, as she is one of the most eminent lawyers in India.

Some firms in the past few years, starting with KCo and now with Trilegal and AZB, have effected the policy of not shortlisting past interns who did not receive a PPO or assessment. In some cases this has gone on for interns who did well in the assessment also but did not receive a PPO call. Many people who had Tier-1 internships in my college and decent grades were not shortlisted by the same firms during Day Zero.

I think you are a law student. Also stop writing generic shit.

Firms dont just hire on vacancies, but well in advance in anticipation of vacancies, there's a specific number in each team that the partner determines. And this number isn't an exact number, it varies with intern performance and trends.
