Partner designation does not really mean anything in India, you are still an associate with similar issues as an associate, of course it gets better but not really.

Plus the higher you go the more difficult it becomes to switch to another firm. Indian law firm market, especially at the top, is really small, imagine you are a partner in Debt Practice in a Tier 1 Firm, very few firms would match your salary, and if you are trying to shift will try to derive the best deal for that firm so it is even worse than a golden handcuff type scenario.

Outside India the market is quite big and firms are more professional. In my experience indian law firms are lala type, sex/drug cults or one maniac running the shiz.

I am a recent Law (LLB) graduate from a top 20 law school in the UK. I am back home in India until December'24-January'25, after which I will be going back to London (hopefully) with a training contract or a job in the UK. I am looking for short-term paralegal roles for these few empty months but have a few questions. Some context- This was my first degree, so right after my 12th I went to the UK to study. I have not done any bachelors in India. I am not qualified in India to practice and would not be able to register until I get 2 years of work ex, so that my degree (3 years) and work experience (2 years) can replicate the 5 year LLB in India.

I have frequented LegallyIndia to brush up on advice for the Indian Legal Market from a student/applicant perspective because to be quite honest, I am clueless. Between some saying you need contacts for paralegalship at T1-T3 firms to some saying they only accept Mumbai grads, I am super confused. I guess it doesn't help my case, at least when applying here, that I am a UK graduate. Most smaller fronts don't accept my application as they don't see me to be fit enough for Indian law. I am currently at a small front (that I got through a contact) on assessment but thinking of leaving because for the past week (9am to 9pm) I have only photocopied applications... I dont know if this sounds cocky but I didn't go through 3 years of insanity, that is the UK LLB, to photocopy man. I just feel undervalued and would rather atleast gain some experience, even with low or no pay, for my future. Currently, neither am I getting paid, nor am I learning anything. Truly feels like a waste of time and god only knows what I will write on my CV for this opportunity if it goes on like this.

I have interned at a T2 firm in Delhi as well as under a sitting Delhi High Court Judge. I have also interned at a top construction and energy law firm in London. Graduated top 20% of my cohort, did alot of extra-curricular activities, holding many leadership roles in Uni, received the highest undergraduate extra-curricular award at my uni as well. However, I have been struggling to get my foot into the door at quite literally any firm in Delhi/GGN area. The one time I've cold-emailed SAM, CAM and Khaitan HR, CAM rejected me and SAM and Khaitan never replied. Unsure if such a cold-email approach is correct? Ive reached out to few associates, partners and business service professionals at T1-T3 firms on linkedin as well but again, 0 response.

I would appreciate any advice on this-- I could be wrong on this, but my assumption is that only T1-T3 opportunities would be the most accepting of me, considering alot of them have working relationships with London firms I am interest in. Naturally, they wouldn't be opposed to an international graduate?

What would the application for such roles be? would I have to intern for a month before I am considered for paralegalship or can I be a paralegal directly?

Literally any advice on my situation would be greatly greatly appreciated.

And if we are talking about records, please show us a number of things: proof of your admission to the Oxford BCL, your transcript of results and your degree certificate for the BCL (showing your overall degree classification), your admission to the DPhil and proof of completion of your DPhil (ideally, degree certificate). For that matter, show us proof that you are/were a student at NLS at some point within the previous five years (and naturally, your transcript and degree certificate from there, if you have graduated). If you are unable to show us most (if not all) the proofs listed above, I think we can safely dismiss you as a troll; that doesn't mean you don't have the right to vomit up your bile, only that nobody need bother about you. If you can show the NLS proofs but not the Oxford ones, then, too, we can, will (and rightly should) dismiss you as a troll whose system is full of sour grapes. Again, you can yell from the rooftops all you like, but we will see no need to listen to you.

In the alternative, proofs of any other equally prestigious graduate study undertaken (Cambridge/LSE/UCL/KCL LLM + PhD, or American equivalents such as HLS/YLS LLM + SJD) will also be acceptable to Oxford ones.

Best graduating student from NLS; a first in the BCL (nothing else would allow for admission to the DPhil at Oxford); fantastic academic connections in India and beyond; a list of publications which starts with an OUP book, but otherwise may not be as long or as fancy as some of us may have wished; loads of scholars who, in their writings, in their own names, have gone on the public record to thank Sudhir. I think that that record speaks for itself.

PS: As for the scandalous accusation, it doesn't deserve a response, but as I am back here, might as well give it one. I am not a current student of Sudhir, if that's what you think. And if he knew I was defending him, considering the circumstances, I think he would be very surprised indeed.

If he could make cogent and convincing arguments, then he could have convinced the students about his perspective. As for myself, if I'm clearing all my exams and getting good grades under Sudhir's regime, and still being unable to frame arguments deemed acceptable by you, then you should blame the regime.

Social media companies are targeting young women to increase anxiety and insecurity. Pornography and video games are targeting young boys and keeping them from being motivated or having decent social skills. Powai and Vasai have one drawback

Powai is a travelling hassle. Not so well connected (unless you're okay taking a to and fro taxi everyday)

Vasai- train travel will make the uninitiated CRY

Andheri/ Vile Parle, especially if you can manage some place closer to the railway station are decent

A quick google search of their 'overseas offices' (Level 41, Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, UAE PO Box 31303 and 138 Market Street, #24-01 CapitaGreen, Singapore 048946) would tell you that these are rent-an-address type locations that thousands of companies use at a time and you can rent for a couple of dollars a month. (that address company is called ServCorp, quite scammy trick that businesses use to portray that they have a lot of international business). Make your assumptions as to how 'professional' it is now. The truth is that it is a great domestic Indian firm with young enthu professionals. That's it.
