Absolutely ridiculous - this attack on Prashant Bhushan must be condemned by all in strongest terms and those guilty should be punished.

I was in adjacent lawyers chambers when we first heard of the assault. Thankfully the situation was under control and the accused was arrested by the police. Lawyers chambers are accessible to all litigants and it is difficult to screen visitors - no one would have ever imagined that a lawyer can be attacked in his/ her chambers within the Supreme Court premises. Today Prashant Bhushan has been attacked because some people disagree with his views, tomorrow other lawyers and perhaps even judges could be attacked because litigants or others disagree with their approach or line of questioning or decisions. And while I understand that there are a lot of people out there who strongly disagree with Prashant Bhushan's views on several issues, but to attack a person like this is completely unacceptable and cannot be condoned. There are ways and means in which one can express his/her disagreement - beating up lawyers is no show of strength. I am not a Prashant Bhushan supporter and continue to disagree with his views on several issues but I strongly condemn this assault and hope that the bar association takes requisite steps to ensure security at the chambers. Freedom of speech and expression is our fundamental right and must be protected. People like the accused and their supporters must not be permitted to make a mockers of our guaranteed constitutional rights.

One can agree with you probably when a Lawyer stick to his own job . In this case Mr Bhusan had indeed exceeded his limit . He should continue to perform his function as a lawyer and DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT GET INTO SUCH THINGS JUST TO GAIN SOME MORE PUBLICITY. This country had one MAHATMA and is surely enough . It is idiotic part to suggest vote/ referendum on Kashmir and accept / respect such vote/ referendum on one hand and contrary to this he also question the Parliament( elected body) on the issue of civil movement. He surely required some advise FREE OF COST

Apparently one of the attackers was a NALSAR graduate and the other was from NUJS.

CJI Kapadia had already released the papers on Restatement of laws on the said three subjects.
Then why do you say "Kapadia starts pilot projects to restate & re-summarise" thereby giving a false impression that as though the CJI has just started the project!

Kindly correct yourself? It is the duty of Mr. Bhushan and infact his right to take stand for all those issues and this is not for him, it is for every single citizen of India. This is no good answer to say that any individual who is a lawyer or a doctor has limited right and that right could not go beyond their professional limits. This is actually nothing but a big nonsense. Few days back Mr. Kapil Sibbal was also of same view regarding Baba Ramdev's agitation, he said that Baba is a yogi, so he should not put his nose in these political issues. So According to him if someone is yogi or sadhu or doctor or lawyer; should not raise their voice against any illegal or corrupt act of out great politicians as they have waived off their right as soon they entered their respected profession. Strange but true.

@7, Trust you are a lawyer and an Indian . The fact of the case is that " whether Kashmir belongs to India or Pakisthan and whether this can be decided by simple vote" If Mr Bhusan suggest voting to decide, then he has certainly exceeded his limit. The simple reason is that " all those who wants to be in Pakistan can pass through the porous boarder and surely India is not going to stop them" . There are no other alternative for " lawyer or the Court" but a a full fledged Indo - Pak war and personally I am ready for it.

Kian in national interest (assuming you have the guts) I request you to do a headline story slamming the SC on the Uphaar verdict. Today was one of the darkest days in the history of SC. Shame shame shame!! This is why we need people like Prashant Bhushan. The judges who gave this verdict must be made to resign at once.
