The Bar Council of India (BCI) has postponed the announcement of the results for the 13th All India Bar Exam (AIBE), held on 23 December 2018, for the third time, pushing candidates’ wait for the grading of OMR-answer sheets to three months.

ITES Horizon is back as the Bar Council of India’s (BCI) official contractor for the All India Bar Exam (AIBE). Or rather, it never left, despite the BCI chairman having confirmed in 2016 that the contract had expired and saying it would be put up for a tender.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has increased the fees of the All India Bar Exam (AIBE), which is obligatory for any law graduate who wants to practice law to pass, from Rs 2,500 per candidate to Rs 3,500 (with scheduled caste and tribe candidates remaining on Rs 2,500).

Those who excitedly jumped in to register for the tenth All India Bar Exam (AIBE), that was “tentatively” postponed by a month to 26 March after registrations opened 12 days late on 16 January, weren’t set to go after all, according to a notification on the official AIBE website.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has opened up registration for the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) X with a delay of only 12 days after the start of registrations was previously scheduled for 6 January 2017, while also postponing the exam that was “tentatively” scheduled to be held on 26 February 2017 to a tentative date of 26th March.

According to the Bar Council of India (BCI) official All India Bar Exam (AIBE) website, the “tentative” date for the next bar exam, which is compulsory for law graduates to pass before entering practice, has been set for 26 February 2017, with registration “likely to start” on 6 January 2017:

The 10th All India Bar Exam (AIBE) is not even in the pipeline almost nine months after the 9th AIBE, after the Bar Council of India (BCI) notified on the official AIBE website that it has not yet decided the exam date and that candidates should “kindly keep visiting” the AIBE website for further update.

The main All India Bar Exam (AIBE) website, http://www.allindiabarexamination.com/ is offline for “maintenance”, around two weeks after Bar Council of India (BCI) chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said the bar exam contract with unqualified contractor ITES Horizon Pvt Ltd had expired.

Results for the ninth All India Bar Exam (AIBE) may finally be nearly available on the official website, although first reports suggest that the link doesn’t actually work.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) renewed its dubiously awarded bar exam contract to underperforming exam agency ITES Horizon, without a public tender of the contract and without holding a council meeting for members’ consensus on the renewal.

The BCI’s 2012 meeting minutes regarding the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) have revealed details of the process by which the contract to conduct the fourth and subsequent AIBEs was awarded to ITeS Horizon.

Bar Council of India (BCI) chairman Manan Kumar Mishra revealed in an interview with legal website Bar & Bench today that its All India Bar Exam (AIBE) contractor ITES Horizon could get paid up to Rs 2.1 crore ($378,000) for assisting with the exam, while parts of BCI revenues from the exam would go to the welfare of lawyers.

He added that the BCI would not provide any study materials this time and would release model questions three or four days before the exam on 9 December.
